BUULDING WITH WATEER

Coastal communities in the Philippines are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Rising sea levels, tidal flooding, storm surges, and typhoons are among the hazards that threaten life, livelihood, and property along the coast.

How can communities become more resilient to the pressures of the environment? What makes a resilient building? How should a resilient community be defined?

Based on the existing site conditions and character of an estuarine community off the coast of Hagonoy, Bulacan in Manila Bay, the design proposals explore alternative and creative architectural solutions to adapt to a life on water.
