ARCHHITECTURE CAPPSTONE PROJJECT

As a Fourth Year Architectural Design course, Arch. 142 focuses on bridging the earlier design courses and the culminating Fifth Year Arch. 199.1/Arch. 199.2 Design courses.

The integrated Arch 141/ Arch 142 courses initiate the integrative function of linking the related architectural courses that introduce the students to Mechanical/Electrical Equipment/Systems, Plumbing, Structural Design, Acoustics and Lighting, Site Planning/ Urban Design and Urban Planning in a cohesive and comprehensive manner as related to Architectural Design.

For the final capstone project of the Arch 142 Classes this AY 2020-21, they are tasked to prepare a complete set of Design Development Drawings, with polished level of detail, as a refinement of their Arch 141 deliverables- the Schematic Designs, the translations of their Architectural Programming Goals and Concepts, the researches on Design Theories and Present Conditions Analysis, and the architectural solutions to their defined Problems or proposed Agendas. With the basic guidelines for spatial requirements:

  • 1.5 Ha approximate lot areas,
  • 3000 to 4000 GFAs,
  • 4 stories building height,

and for exercising their own choices of their design methodologies, these shall allow them to integrate key buildings systems in their architectural design and exemplify fourth-year design level scope and breadth of knowledge and competencies.
